statement of purpose
The Bumpspark* Project's not-for-profit mission is to advance critical and creative thinking through the direct pursuit of new ideas.

With our series of interdisciplinary, one-on-one dialogues for video, audio, and portable media, we will create a public forum for curious and complex conversation, cross-pollinate
our increasingly divided centers of knowledge, and document the uncelebrated modern intellectual voice.

Keywords: conversation, critical thinking, creativity, mixing specializations, ideas, intellectuals, metaphor, multimedia

I think the fundamental process of conversation is one of the great miracles of nature, that two people commun-icating with each other is an extraordinary phenomenon that has so far defied all attempts to capture it.” - Jaron Lanier, “Our Machines, Ourselves” Harper’s Magazine, May 1997

the goal
The Project's initial effort is the pre-production, production and post-production of a single pilot episode of the series as a model for evaluation, fundraising, and further production and development of the series.

Pre-production requires the research and identification of the conversation counterparts, the hiring of a production crew, and the scouting and securing of the shoot locations. This takes approximately a month's time. MIT physics professor and bestselling author Alan Lightman and former US Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky are confirmed as the pilot episode counterparts.

Production of the pilot takes no more than a week encompassing the rehearsal of the camera crew and the shooting of the episode.

Post-production consists of two phases. Phase one, completing the pilot episode, includes two to three weeks of editing, sound and graphic design. Phase two, distributing the pilot episode, includes the duplication and delivery of the episode to garner additional counterparts, media distributors, and non-profit media funders, private, corporate and government, as well as initiate the larger project.

The larger project, including a market analysis and budget for all of the above, is available in the Bumpspark* Digital Business Plan. Contact us for a copy.
